She provides clinical supervision and consultation to therapists, and sees individuals, couples and families in her practices in Center City, Philadelphia, and New Jersey. She is available to work remotely, and to travel to families when necessary.
As a multigenerational family systems thinker, Dr. Hudak also applies these principles to family-owned businesses, where the economic and personal facets of family life are inextricably tied.
Dr. Hudak is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Perelman School of Medicine at The University of Pennsylvania, and an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Couple and Family Therapy Program, at Thomas Jefferson University College of Health Professions. She is dedicated to the clinical training and supervision of the next generations of Family Psychiatrists and Couple and Family Therapists.
She has been in private practice in Monmouth County, N.J. since 1989. From 2013-2019, Dr. Hudak was the Clinical Director of The Center for Couples and Adult Families (CCAF) at Penn Medicine, Outpatient Department of Psychiatry. Together with CCAF Founder, Ellen Berman, MD, they created and developed a center for families that included both family psychoeducation and a range of clinical services, partnering with other programs within Penn Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry. They also expanded the training program for psychiatry residents in family systems, with a focus on culture and family across all four years of the psychiatry residency.
Dr Hudak is known for her work with diverse family structures, including remarried family systems, and incorporating a social justice lens into all facets of clinical work. She is known for her attention to dynamics of privilege and oppression as they organize and shape relationships and family life.
Dr Hudak has taught couple and family therapy at the graduate and post graduate levels. Her research has focused on sexual fluidity and midlife identity transitions, and the impact of heteronormative culture on family life as well as family therapy theory. She has presented nationally on a variety of topics that include the use of qualitative autoethnographic research in the family therapy field.
